Religion has Issues!
The tragedy at Virginia Tech touches us all. It doesn't matter who you are. In some manner you have to be affected. Either you are a college student, a parent of a college student, a high schooler looking forward to college, or just Joe Citizen who knows the stories of college life. We all have some sort of affiliation with university life.
For all that we are all touched by this tragedy, there are those ignorant enough to try to use it for their own pseudo-political agenda. While Stumble-upon-ing around the internet I came across an article regarding statements made by a Mr. Dinesh D'Souza, who for all intents and purposes published this article for no better reason than to insult the beliefs of a group of people that he disagrees with.
Mr. D'Souza uses maddeningly simplistic generalizations to push a pro-religion agenda. Stating that according to Atheists:
...the main characteristic of the universe is pitiless indifference. What this tells me is that if it's difficult to know where God is when bad things happen, it is even more difficult for atheism to deal with the problem of evil. The reason is that in a purely materialist universe, immaterial things like good and evil simply do not exist. Cho's shooting of all those people can be understood in this way: molecules acting upon molecules.I understand full well that there are differences of opinion regarding religion and the origins of the universe. However, I am far from ignorant enough to take a national tragedy and twist the hurt, the pain, and the evil that it was into some sort of weapon against those I disagree with.
The link below will take you to a full response to Mr. D'Souza's self serving tripe. I find it to be a very heartfelt and well handled response to him.
